”Oh, Mother Earth! When we plow your body for cultivation, please let the plants grow well! Let us NOT HARM YOUR VITALITY WHEN WE USE YOU FOR OUR LIVELIHOOD!” (Verse 35) Pruthvi Sukta, Atharva Veda
Chandrapur is a cultural city surrounded by forests and wildlife. At the same time, it also generates energy to fulfil human needs. Chandrapur has and continues to serve both humans and nature. Maintaining a fine balance between the two isn’t an easy task. Today, we have been entrusted with this great responsibility.

Chandrapur Forest Academy started with the simple goal of training forest officers. However, over the last 7 years, we have come a long way and now the institute is engaged in education, research & development, knowledge promotion & distribution, and wildlife conservation.
The objective is not just to create a platform for in-service training of forest officers through the forest academy anymore but also to generate the skilled manpower required for the management of forest resources in Vidarbha. Therefore, the Chandrapur Forest Academy has set a larger goal and purpose than other forest academies in the neighbouring states.

We have undertaken several initiatives to create awareness and offer training to the general public, government employees, students, teachers, and other representatives. Chandrapur Forest Academy has also partnered with several NGOs to propagate environmental knowledge. Unfortunately, some of our plans were delayed due to the pandemic. After the outbreak of Covid-19, the administration was provided with an oxygen plant in the wildlife management building, oxygen beds with ventilators, and dormitories with accommodation for about 200 persons for the care and treatment of coronavirus patients.

As we leap into a sustainable future, our infrastructure has been significantly upgraded. State-of-the-art training centres, research labs, and world-class equipment will enable us fulfil our ambitious goals.

To impart the necessary training to future generations, we have tied up with several educational and governmental organisations. We have signed an academic memorandum of understanding with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Gondwana University, Gadchiroli to undertake several diploma to post-graduate level courses. Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Ramtek, National Road Development Corporation, and Tribal Development Department also avail our training services. Moreover, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, a nodal agency of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, also conducts research and training activities on the campus, as well as in Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli and various districts of East Vidarbha.

As the entire world recuperates from the devastating human and economic impact of the pandemic, Chandrapur Forest Academy is also set to take the next step. Several progressive plans and adaptive policies are being implemented to revamp the institute. Together, we can ensure ecological and development balance in our city, state, as well as the entire country.
